Local tax in Indiana

Indiana imposes NO local sales tax — the 7% state rate is the entire sales tax on a vehicle purchase anywhere in the state, with no county, municipal or transit add-on and no destination rate lookup. Do not confuse this with Indiana's annual county vehicle excise tax and county wheel tax, which some counties do impose: those are recurring registration-time charges administered by the BMV, not sales taxes, and never apply to the purchase itself.
